Capacity Building for Government SWM Strategy
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Under a program “Sustainable Cities Integrated Approach Pilot in India (SCIAP)” supported by the United Nations Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) a project is being implemented in five pilot cities (Bhopal, Jaipur, Guntur, Vijayawada, and Mysuru).
The National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) has been engaged in the implementation of Component 3: Partnerships, Knowledge Management and Capacity Building. The session on SWM Strategy Planning was conducted for ULB officials from these cities to train the ULBs on preparing the SWM rules mandated SWM strategy plans for their ULBs.

WHAT DID WE DO?
Workshop module was conducted using interactive tools and discussion to cover the important topics like vision and goal setting, action plans and strategies for SWM. Under this program, sessions were conducted in Vijayawada, Jaipur, Mysore and Bhopal. Total of approximately 200 government officials were trained through these sessions.
